Judy G.
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

WITNESSING LIFE'S MIRACLES

Today we were treated to one of life's miracles - the birth of a calf in the pasture beside our house.  It wasn't our cow - it was a neighbor's cow.  We let him run his herd on our side land just so they can keep the grass picked down.  When we got home from church this morning, I noticed this large red cow laying down near the fence by our driveway, but I thought nothing of it.  Then about a 1/2 hour later, we were standing out in the driveway talking to some people, and one of the young men said, "Hey are you all expecting a calf anytime soon, because it looks like a cow is giving birth right over there."  And, sure enough, we all got to witness this little limp calf fall to the ground right then.  At first it looked lifeless, but then we saw an ear wiggle, and pretty soon the mother went over and started giving it the once over with her tongue to stimulate him.  The people with us had two young boys with them, so they drove down closer to her and got a good look at the baby, and then I walked down the drive also to make sure it looked all right.  I wanted to hang around until it got up and started to nurse, but our dogs were bothering the mother, so I walked back up to the house so they'd leave them alone.  Nature just amazes me all the time!
