About Me

Judy G.
I was raised in South Florida back in the years when it was a peaceful and wonderfully safe place to live. We lived a mile from the beach and could ride our bikes over the intercoastal bridge right to the best beach around. All my years of growing up I was a competitive swimmer and belonged to AAU. I granduated from Florida State University with a BS degree in nursing. I am recently retired but I'm thinking of going back to work to support my hobbies.

It's officially been 6 weeks since I went through my knee replacement surgery, and, let me tell you, it was no picnic!  I was out of the hospital in a day a half, and off to rehab on the second day.  I was not a good patient, I must admit.  All those stretching and bending exercises for my new knee were enough to make me cry.  If anyone who has had knee replacement tells you that rehab was a breeze, they're LYING!  Three times a week for an hour at a time I went through torture to make my right leg bend and work again, and I am down to the last 2 visits of gait training - walking without a cane or a limp.  Finally I can drive a car again and get off the toilet seat when we go out to eat.  That was a major milestone.
Today I actually felt like filming a short video - the first time I've felt like doing anything besides sitting in my lounge chair with the circulating cold water pump on my knee.  I still have to edit it and upload it to You a Tube, but I'll get that done within the next day or so.  My house is a mess, as my husband has handed back the household duties that he generously took over while I was really incapacitated.  We went out-of-town for four days during Christmas, but, other than that, I have been housebound for 6 weeks.  And now it's just too cold outside to go anywhere.  Little by little the Christmas things are being put away, and things are returning to normal.  My biggest obstacle right now is getting a good night's sleep.  If you've got any suggestions, along this line, please, please let me know.
Talk to you soon.
